I have been fighting getting sick. I started taking antibiotics yesterday and feel a little better today. I just didn't want to risk a full blown illness as I would not be able to visit the kids and we have court on Monday. Frank feels fine.
We saw Todd for a few minutes today. He is still in isolation but he is OK. No changes. We have been working on setting limits with Rachel and it is going really well. It took 45 minutes our last visit but finally she said please and I then in turn gave her her snack. She received tons of praise from the crowd in the room and then started saying please (in Russian and English) for everything. Perhaps one of the most rewarding things for Frank and I happened today. We were walking out of the playroom both holding her hand to take her back to her group. Without prompting she turned to look back at all of the other Americans in the room. Without prompting she smiled, waved and said "Bye". Wow! We couldn't believe it. We haven't even tried to teach her that and usually end our visit by saying PAKA, which means "See you later" in Russian. But apparently she learned it from hearing us say good-bye on a daily basis to all of the Americans in the room.
I quit putting the hydrocortisone on her hands for a day or so because I thought that the rash was history. But today it was back on her palms with a vengence. She literally was digging through my purse looking for the cream because she knows that it makes her feel better. We'll see how it looks tonight.
Also, I should mention to those of you who will be travelling to the Skiff that the massage lady gives a pretty good facial for 600 tenge (about 4.50). Have your interpreter tell her no electric currents (I am not kidding), just a cleasing facial.
