Day 21
November 17th

Well, I survived my first day alone. I saw Frank off at the Petro airport this morning around 10AM our time. It is a very small airport that involves only 4 flights per week to Almaty. It touches down in Kosheteu on the way. I spoke to Frank this evening and he made it safely to Almaty. He was taken to the law office to sign some final papers and then to a hotel where he will have a few hours to rest. He will be picked up around 1AM for a 4AM flight. His flight from Almaty to Frankfurt is about 6 hours, He has a 3.5 hour layover in Frankfurt and then a 6 hour flight to JFK. He lands in JFK at 12:45PM on Thursday and has to go through customs, etc. If all goes well he hopes to be home to Morgan around 4PM.

Frank took his laptop as he uses it for work, but thanks to a good friend who loaned me one, I am still connected. I started my once a day visits with the kids. Our visit time is from 5pm to 7pm which means I will start posting after dinner which will be around 9 or 10 am east coast time. Morgan, I am sorry you will not be able to check the website before school anymore.

Now, for the kids. We had a nice visit this evening. I managed to get them both to sit still for about 10 minutes on the mat while a fed them a banana. Rachel's English contiues to progress. For this week I have a driver, but no interpreter. As a result I suspect that she may learn some more English as she does not have the interpreter to fall back on. She said Uh-Oh about 10 times tonight. It is her new favorite English word.

Last night Frank and the interpreter talked to the kids at the end of the visit about how Daddy was going home to be with Morgan. Mama would stay and then their Grandpa will come to help Mama and then we will go home to be with Daddy and Morgan. Who knows what they understand but their eyes got really big and they really seemed to take it all in. Tonight we looked at Daddy's pictures and they smiled and pointed as they said his name.

Picture of Petropavlovsk Baby House. This building is surrounded on all 4 sides by apartment buildings and most locals are not even aware that it is here.
Todd seemed to take a special liking to this car at this evening's visit
"This is a picture of my Daddy"
Please pardon the purple stuff in Rachel's mouth. She was finishing up a Flintstone Vitamin
