Day 23
November 18th, 2004
Frank arrived home safely today
Woke up to a few inches of snow. The mud and slush is gone. One of the Americans picked up her babygirl from the babyhouse today. Unfortunately, because of the snow the airport shut down for a few hours. She brought her back to the Skiff so that we could all visit. Below is a picture of Dillon taking a nap on my bed.

A couple new events at this evenings visits. First of all I need to let you know that Todd had his first full blown fit. It was quite amusing. He really was determined to play with the digital camera. Worse yet is he couldn't seem to get over it and my efforts to redirect him did not work. I actually ended up taking him back to his group about 20 minutes early as a result of the ordeal. Fortunately, Rachel has been taking direction very well lately. I will continue to hope for the best otherwise I may end up in Poricellis, where the entire town of Trumbull shops, with both of them throwing a fit at the same time.

As for Rachel, I am now able to communicate with her in Russian regarding her  toileting needs. I took her to the bathroom. They have an interesting system. There is a wall shelves/cubby holes. Each child has their own and in it is a large dog bowl with their name on it that they use as their potty chair. They don't have toilet paper. When they are done the caregiver empties the potty and the child washes their hands. Then there is a row of hooks with towels. Each child has their own towel to dry their hands with.

Another interesting fact about Rachel that I don't believe that I have shared.... She is a full blown drama queen. Each time I take her to her group she says in a loud matter of fact voice, in Russian of course, "It is me, Albina. I am back!" Tonight when I walked her back to her room all of the children were quietly watching a movie in the dark. She walk in, spread out her arms and made her announcement in a particularly loud voice.
