Dedushka(Grandfather) has arrived in Petropavlosk,
As Frank tried to warn me before the trip, you can't explain it to anybody, they just have to experience it. It was 26 hours in flight to Almaty, got in at midnight, and flew another 3.5 hours today. Shannon was glad to see me, she was glad to see anybody. Almaty weather was much like Connecticut, but colder. Petro is bitter cold and extremely primitive as Shannon has implied. Its like the trip, you would have to be here to believe it. I am sure everyone will agree when they see the pictures with me and my vnuchka and vnuk(granddaughter and grandson), that they both look exactly like me.
Listen everybody, these kids are awesome. Todd has a great personality and Morgan's demeanor and will be the apple of his dad's eye. Rachel well... she has a ton of Jennifer in her and she will be the apple of everybody's eye.
We go to immigration tomorrow to get my card to go with my passport and then Shannon will show me some of the town. Petro is like a run down Terre Haute (sorry Uncle Tim), so I am not planning on a mall.
It is a real honor to be able to participate with Frank, Shannon and Morgan to help make this happen. You think how lucky these kids are, then you meet them and realize they aren't the lucky ones..
