SHANNON: Hi. Today is the last day of our 15 day waiting period. Tomorrow we will go to sign the final papers (I will kiss them) and we will receive their new birth certificates. This means it is a done deal. I am turning it over to Dad to tell you about our day.
DAD:Today was probably last day to take it real easy and sightsee since we will busy finalizing the adoption and then getting prepared to leave Petro.
We walked again for quite a while and it was very clear and somewhat colder as you can see by the picture of Shannon, who everyone should recognize since her eyes are showing. Some of the shops have extremely nice clothes which is consistent with the way these proud people dress. The coats, hats, and boots that the women wear are as nice as I have seen anywhere. Information we received today indicate that the people in the north where we are at are much more open to change and receptive to Americans than in Almaty where we will be going Friday. Almaty has more traditional Kazaks that are less open to change and outsiders according to an English speaking Kazak that we met here in Petro.
I do have to report that I received a flood of emails protesting my unfavorable comparison in a previous posting of Petro to Terre Haute, and I want to publicly apologize to all of the fine citizens of Petropavlosk.
