I wake up every morning at about 5:00AM. I can't fall back to sleep because I'm so excited to get up and go to the babyhouse. It is of course driving Frank crazy as we are stuck in a hotel room and there is no where for me to go. We are really starting to settle in here. We have a small fridge in our room and have everything we need for lunches. We bought a two cup coffee pot yesterday for 2300 tenge (about $17 dollars). So, we are livin large now. Puts a whole new perspective on the day. Also, is amazing how many friends you can make in the hotel with other adopting American families when you have a coffee pot. Actually, I didn't end up needing to call Boris to help hook up our internet. Another American did it in exchange for a large cup of coffee. Us Americans do favors for one another on a barter system here at the Hotel Skiff. Another item th at is frequently exhanged is DVDs. We have a great deal of bartering power as we have a season of Friends episodes.
OK, now for this morning's visit. Rachel was a little shy this morning. She walked into the play room, was quiet for a minute and then burst into tears. It was heart breaking. Fortunately she was easily consoled by Mama. The tears were ceased by a cup of Cheerios that we brought along. In contrast, Todd was much more relaxed today. Due to Rachel's meltdown she spent the entire visit in Mama's lap and Todd spent the entire visit playing with Papa. Papa got a lot of smiles out of him and HE WALKED !!! He took about ten steps. Apparently he was just too nervous to walk. Also, our caregivers told us that he can say a couple of words in Russian. He says "Yes" and "Give Me".
Morgan, Rachel said your name today as she looked at your picture. We miss you and can't wait for the first Kelsey Family picture when we get home!
Great visit this evening. Major breakthroughs. Both were very happy. Rachel and Papa spent some quality time and he got his first kiss. Todd's shyness has worn off. He's walking everywhere and into everthing, smiling and laughing. Here's a few more pics:
