Day 7
Woke up to a blanket of snow cover. I noticed yesterday that the muddy streets were starting to freeze up. I forgot to mention on yesterday's post that Rachel is starting to mimic English words. When reading her a book I was able to get her to say things such as cow, dog, cat, etc. She tends to be more willing to do this when our interpreter is out of the room. She seems to have no interest in her new name at this point. Here are some pictures of this mornings visits. We took a couple of new toys. When we arrived to the babyhouse for the first time both kids had colds which have been slowly reslolving However, today, they both seemed worse. Runny noses and yucky breathing.. We hope they are better soon.
As for life around here at the Hotel Skiff there is not much exciting to report. I got a back rub for about $2.00 yesterday. It was the roughest massage that I've ever encountered. I am a little sore this morning and am shocked that there are no bruises. I am sure you all feel really sorry for me. Frank just returned from the massage room and he is now calling it the "room of tough love". Maybe I'll try a facial today. As for the food, I will not be losing any weight around here but probably will pick up a few lbs. The food is average and everything is high carb. Also, the meats tend to be very greasy. There are 3 other adopting families here. One is a single mother and she had her court day yesterday. We all celebrated at dinner with a cake. I can see that this trip will quickly turn into the movie "Groundhog Day" as everyday is virtually the same. The highlight of each day is the time that we get with Rachel and Todd. Can't wait to go back tonight.
