Temperature seemed a little warmer today bot lots of snow. Frank and I took a walk to exchange some money and we were very wet when we got back to the hotel. We had a short visit with Todd this morning (30 minutes) beacause he has a rash on his face from carrots (or so they say). Apparently food allergies are very common here in Petropavlovsk. Excellent visit with both kids. We ordered some dumplings from the hotel at breakfast to take for Rachel. They are kind of like Ravioli's with meat inside without the sauce. They were a huge hit. We couldn't believe how much she ate and she had just been fed breakfast? We have noticed that the dark circles under her eyes seem to be fading. Maybe from the Flintstone Vitamins that we smuggle into her mouth every morning or maybe it's just my imagination.
I was a bad Mama and forgot to take my camera to the evening visit. Todd has been placed in isolation for his carrot allergy. Apparently there is new data out indicating that food allergies are contagious. So, we did not see Todd tonight and will not see him tomorrow either. We have actually been luckier than most so far as every family here has either had there child isolated or in the hospital for about half of the time. We will pray for no hospitalizations. I have heard that the city hospital here is not a pretty sight and is even considered a poor hospital among the locals here. About Rachels hands, they have nearly resolved with hydrocortisone so I do not think that it is scabies but it is the strangest rash that I have ever seen so please, please take great caution when feeding your children Cheerios. Other big news today is that Frank shaved his beard. He's down to a week before leaving so he figured that it is time and this way the kids can get used to seeing him without it.
